DO YOU USE CREATIVE MUSCLES IN EVENT INDUSTRY?
Recently the whole world celebrated the first official World Creativity and Innovation Day (#WCID). People in over 100 communities and in 50+ countries united in creativeness on April 21. As a part of a global community, I’ve joined in and decided to share my view about creativity in the event industry. Read further to know why it matters and what is trending in 2018!
I believe that events with extraordinary experience win. They undoubtedly have more impact on guests because creative excellence is always rewarded. It strengthens the audience’s engagement and increases the chances of them to remember your event over others. Sounds good, huh? All you have to do is to regularly push the boundaries and go beyond visitors’ expectations. In simple words - bring them a spectacular experience! Start from the technical things like lightning and audiovisual elements and then expand your imagination for more. There are a few outstanding aspects I’d like to highlight. Check them out to get inspired for your own projects!
- NEVER TOO DIGI.
Tech will gain a full traction this year. Most of the 2018 event trends are focused on the virtual realm: virtual speakers, chatbots, VR and AI. Its usage is shifting from being just entertaining to functional. So, why not to get creative with it? Provide digital hangouts, use personalized 3D virtual invitations and search for the ways to make your venues interactive and fun! Implement virtual tours, or product demos that can be seen on the spot and it will serve for the benefit of the user journey. Augmented reality apps and applications can be used to creatively tell a story to the visitors or give them some additional information. Other than that, chatbots could be very much of a use. They provide a more personalized service for event attendees and help them organize their time. Also, put 360-degree photos and videos on the radar, as social media audiences require more engagement. Livestreaming is already fairly popular at events, but you can add to it by hosting live online debates and more.
- DON'T SELL, ENTERTAIN!
Playfulness and interactivity is always at the front for the best events. Entertainment across the event creates and strengthens bonds between people and increases productivity. Yet it is quite a challenge to promote a playful attitude while dealing with serious subject matter that doesn’t lend itself to fun. So, get creative with it! Make entertainment contextually appropriate and focused and engage your visitors to play! Designate play zones to facilitate networking or showcase your sponsors in fun, playful ways by incorporating gamify sponsorship activations. Interactive games, polls, conversation, prizes, quizzes, whatever engage an audience way more than a talk or a sales pitch. Give your visitors a healthy dose of fun no matter how serious the event is!
Wrapping up, creativity has a long-term impact. It engages the visitors and makes your event unique. So, make a room for it in your event planning! There are a lot of innovations for event professionals in the upcoming year. Yet, I suggest to take an advantage of the outstanding technology and add some fun to even the most serious meeting!
