ASIAN GAMES 2018 THROUGH A LENS
As the 18th Asian Games closed in a glittering ceremony in Jakarta, congratulations to the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), to all medal winners & participants, guests of the country who were part of these historic games.
GL events’ contribution to the 18th Asian Games served as a perfect example of the worldwide capability of the company. The Games featured 463 events in 44 kinds of sports with 45 countries & regions participating at 65 competition venues. The games were the biggest multi-sport games after the Olympic Games with more than 13,000 volunteers involved. As the General Contractor, GL events engaged 180 team members from 23 different countries as well as more than 1,000 local workers.

In less than 9 months the team has presented the excellent overlay solutions. Despite the logistic difficulties and the shortage of time GL events’ team has installed 45,000 sqm of temporary structures supplied for hospitality venues, lounge, VIP and press areas, accreditation, security centers and a medical station.
They were challenged to provide 75,000 sqm of branding materials, in order to decorate venues and make it convenient for the guests to orientate on-site. Starting with designing and global venue drawings they’ve successfully continued with delivery and installation. Our quality installation included everything from scaffolding to lighting, flooring, media desks, toilets and interior fit-out.

Also, there were more than 15,500 spectator seats for grandstands as well as 1,050 containers for office/changing rooms, toilets and storage installed.
Elsewhere, GL event Group member and official power supplier of the Asian Game 2018 – FLOW Air + Power Solutions - provided 12 MW of power and more than 800 distribution boards. They successfully powered Grand Opening and Closing Ceremonies that showcased the beauty and greenery of Indonesia.
GL events Middle East has an extensive experience in delivering sports events in the region, yet at the beginning, it has been a challenge to collect a detailed information from the committee about their preferences and needs. Furthermore, the last minute additions have put some stress on the stuff, but the team was able to manage it and deliver a massive, vibrant and impactful event.
As for now, the 2018 Asian Games were one of the largest projects in the company’s history, with multi-sport activities in more than 65 venues around the country.
With honor, we can state that GL events’ team showed a superb contribution, based on the company’s extensive experience in major international events in conjunction with the technical, logistical and engineering expertise and resources they’ve had.
